The role of art in modern human life. Art in the life of modern man

The role of art in modern human life. Art in the life of modern man

What is contemporary art? The answer to this question still torments art historians, critics, and artists. If this is what exists now, this is the work of all the artists who work in our time. Or is it a kind of narrow direction, which is characterized by various innovative trends, and only what is relevant. There is a lot between these two poles. different phenomena. And it probably depends on the context in which we find ourselves.

In principle, contemporary art is art that is created by our contemporaries. Very often, the author's works of art do not find understanding. For most viewers, this looks like an incomprehensible attempt at self-expression of a single person. This conflict is between the viewer and the creator. Some kind of provocation (Figure 10).

Figure 1 - Examples of contemporary art

This provocation is needed to force him to go beyond the usual ideas about art, to break stereotypes. But it cannot be said that the tastes of society in the field of culture, works of art are spoiled. After all, all the same, they were brought up on classical painting, classical sculpture. And the classics represented a certain idealized person and society when they worked on their works of art. In modern art, this principle breaks down. The fact is that at one time the classics were also, as a rule, some kind of destroyers of canons and traditions. And there has always been a certain avant-garde that expanded the boundaries, expanded the spheres. Then it became the norm, the generally accepted norm. And again there came a moment when it was necessary to expand the boundaries, change the perception of the viewer. Thanks to the possibilities of our time, now any person can express himself by creating objects of art and, with the help of them, express himself.

I think that any direction always has a circle of viewers, even a narrow one. Another thing is that not every work and not every direction is widely known, such as the same cubism, surrealism, pop art. In the end, it rarely happens when an artist works completely alone, without any framework, without any direction. And if he is already working with some group, then, therefore, there are these viewers. Another thing is that not everything will end up in the museum. And not everything has to go there. But as a cultural fact, as a historical fact the appearance of any such failed direction is also a very revealing moment. This is not necessarily an artistic fact, but a historical one, of course, who should preserve or not preserve, who should make this choice.

Contemporary art in its present form was formed at the turn of the 1960s and 70s. The artistic searches of that time can be characterized as a search for alternatives to modernism (often this resulted in denial through the introduction of principles directly opposite to modernism). This was expressed in the search for new images, new means and materials of expression, up to the dematerialization of the object (performances and happenings). We can say that there has been a shift from the object to the process. The most noticeable phenomena of the turn of the 60s and 70s can be called the development of conceptual art and minimalism. In the 70s, the social orientation of the art process noticeably increased both in terms of content (themes raised in the work of artists) and composition: the most noticeable phenomenon in the mid-70s was feminism in art, as well as an increase in the activity of ethnic minorities (1980- f) and social groups (for example, "outsider art"). The late 70s and 80s were characterized by "fatigue" from conceptual art and minimalism and a return of interest in figurativeness, color and figurativeness (the flourishing of movements such as the New Wilds). The mid-1980s saw the rise of movements that actively used images mass culture-- campism, east village art, neo-pop on the rise. The flowering of photography in art dates back to the same time - more and more artists begin to turn to it as a means of artistic expression. The art process, since the 80s, has been greatly influenced by the development of technology - video, audio, computers and the Internet - this has significantly expanded the palette of tools used by artists

It is impossible to overestimate the importance of art. It is difficult to give an exact definition, its manifestations are so diverse, it is so complex and accessible at the same time. But one thing is clear: no society exists without art, and a person's life without art is poor and uninteresting.

The role and place of art in the life of society does not remain unchanged.

Some eras live by art, for example, Antiquity, the Renaissance. In others, the life of society is determined by religion - the Middle Ages. In our country, due to the uniqueness of its historical development, art has always played a huge role and has been a spokesman for ideas and views that differ from those officially recognized and imposed. Through art, people comprehended their existence, in it they sought and found answers to the most pressing questions of life. They argued with him, imitated his heroes, they lived.

However, in last years When it became possible to openly express one's views, and political dictatorship faded into history, the public resonance of art decreased. Art has ceased to be the only platform for the expression of public opinion. Nor was it in developed democracies. Given this, some theorists and public figures they began to assert that art had played its historical role and that only a gnedonic function and a narrowly understood aesthetic function remained behind it: to give people rest, entertainment and admiration of the beautiful. A stream of entertainment literature and television series about " beautiful life' seem to confirm this. But if the nature of art were reduced only to these of its functions, humanity would hardly be able to reach those spiritual, moral, aesthetic heights, acquire the subtlety of feelings, sincerity and responsiveness that are inherent in true humanity.

“Oh, the circle of our ideas would be pitiful if we were presented only to our five senses and our brain processed the food obtained by them. Often one powerful artistic image puts into our souls more than many years of life have produced. We are aware that the best and most precious part of our "I" does not belong to us, but to that spiritual milk, to which the powerful hand of creativity brings us closer, ”said the Russian writer V.M. Garshin (20).

Sometimes, and not infrequently, a work of fiction read or seen has a huge impact on a person's behavior and even determines his whole life.

“Eugene Onegin determined a lot in me. If then, all my life, to this last day, I have always been the first to write, the first to stretch out my hand - and my hands, not fearing the court - it is only because at the dawn of my days, Tatiana lying in a book, by a candle, with a scythe tousled and thrown over her chest did it in front of my eyes.

And if later, when they left (always - they left), not only didn’t stretch out my hands after me, but didn’t turn my head, it was only because then, in the garden, Tatyana froze like a statue.

A lesson in courage. A lesson in pride. Loyalty lesson. Fate lesson. A lesson in loneliness, ”says Marina Tsvetaeva (21; 43).

“Through art (singing and words) we express our feelings of love, sorrow and joy, to the sounds of music we boldly go to victory, to the same sounds we mourn the fallen heroes. Art decorates temples, it teaches us to pray better, love God more and feel the feelings of others. Art ... it is a spokesman and interpreter human soul mediator between God and man. Art speaks more clearly, more concretely, more beautifully what everyone would like to say, but cannot. Art is like a guiding star, illuminating the path by striving forward towards the light. He wants to be better, more perfect, ”said the Russian sculptor of the 19th century. Mark Antokolsky (22; IV; 227).

“Art tells a person what he lives for. It reveals to him the meaning of being, illuminates life goals, helps him to understand his vocation,” the French sculptor Auguste Rodin defines the purpose of art (23; III; 385-386).

But this lofty purpose, for the sake of which art was created, preserved and developed by man, it fulfills only when it does not turn into simple entertainment.

And since, according to the logic of its historical development, humanity cannot prolong its existence without mutual understanding (and the need for this is growing), without communication between people, without the desire to comprehend life, to understand others and, above all, oneself, without the joy of co-creation and creativity, without admiration and delight in beauty, then the need for art, and therefore art itself, will exist as long as there are people on Earth. And communication with him makes each person mentally thinner, spiritually richer. It is only necessary to understand the nature of art and its lofty purpose, to learn to love art and respect its creators.

Art in the life of modern man. Kinds of art.

Art is part of the spiritual art of humanity. Art includes painting, architecture, sculpture, music, fiction, theater, dance, cinema. All the diversity of the world around us and the attitude of a person towards it, thoughts and feelings, ideas and ideas, beliefs of people - all this is transmitted by a person in artistic images. Art helps a person to choose ideals and values. Art is a kind of textbook of life. Each type of art speaks in its own language about the eternal problems of life, about good and evil, about love and hate, about joy and sorrow, about the beauty of the world and the human soul.

Artistic image - style - language.

Each time has its own face, its own image, its melodies and rhythms. When we see the majestic Egyptian pyramids or St. Basil's Cathedral, we listen to the music of Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, we read epics and folk tales, the works of Shakespeare or Dumas, Pushkin or Chekhov, we are imbued with the atmosphere of bygone times, we recognize the people who lived then. Future generations will better understand our time if they listen to music, read books, look at the paintings and sculptures of our era. After all, contemporary art is what our world is embodied in, we are with you. And by what is now created, descendants will judge us.

The artist and sculptor, composer and performer, poet and writer, director and actor need contact with the viewer, listener, reader, who participate in creative process empathize with him. To get closer to art, to enter the artist's world, to discover the uniqueness of the creator's personality, one cannot do without understanding such categories as artistic image, style, language.

Artistic image- this is a generalized idea of reality, expressed in the language of art, the attitude to life, to the world around. Revealing his inner world, the artist is always attuned to the wave of his time with all its anxieties and joys, anticipating certain changes. Therefore, it becomes possible to create artistic image era.

Style(from the Greek. stylos - literally a stick for writing) means handwriting, a set characteristic features, techniques, methods, features of creativity. In art, the style of the era (historical), national style (belonging to one or another people), individual style specific artist in the broadest sense of the word. Describing the style in architecture, they say that "style is an era", in other arts - in painting, music, literature - "style is a person."

Language of any art helps to hear in the work the living voice of the artist, the centuries-old wisdom of the people. Expressiveness, emotionality, figurativeness of the language of painting and graphics, music and sculpture, poetry and dance are provided by composition, form, texture, rhythm, tone, intensity. This is common - in the language of art.

At the same time, each type of art speaks its own language: painting - with color, graphics - with line and spot, sculpture - with volume, music - with sound, intonation, dance - with the plasticity of gestures and movements, literature - with a word. The authors in their works, with the help of means of expression specific to this or that art, place semantic accents, highlight the most essential. This allows them to convey various feelings to viewers, listeners, readers, to convey to them the content of their works.

To learn to understand all the diversity of art, you need to understand the figurative structure artwork belonging to a certain style, direction.

For centuries, man has always had a desire for everything beautiful. And the desire for art appeared in the days of hoeing, hunting for mammoths and dressing the skins of caught animals. The first painters decorated the walls of their houses with various drawings. Everyday life. They depicted a successful hunt, animals living in the forests, their settlement and prints of their palms. Later, when they got acquainted with clay and began to sculpt pots, they began to put images on them too.

Humanity has evolved, so has art. Rock paintings were replaced by frescoes and mosaics. The Greeks were especially skilled in this area. They were invited by many kings to decorate the walls of their palaces with their works. Replaced frescoes and mosaics came. At that time, the icon served not only as an object of prayer, but also as a home decoration. Since the 4th century, the icon has become an obligatory attribute of every home. The wealthier class allowed themselves to decorate them with gold and silver, precious stones and enamel. The family's well-being was judged by the number of icons and their framing.

Along with the image of the faces of saints, lint-free carpets or, as they were called, tapestries, and later - tapestries served as decoration for the walls. They were made by interweaving colored threads covering a woolen or linen base. The tapestries themselves were a hand-woven carpet with a plot and ornamental composition.

Tapestries, tapestries and paintings have become an indispensable attribute of the decoration of palaces and country residences.

Fashion has changed, but in our time they remain an integral part of interior decoration. A properly selected picture can not only decorate the room, but also make it cozy and unique, with a zest inherent only to you. When decorating the interior, it is worth considering many nuances, the main ones of which are: with a small amount of furniture and accessories, an oppressive emptiness and a feeling of incompleteness will be felt, and oversaturation will lead to a feeling of fatigue and overload. Therefore, before buying a painting, you need to think in advance about its location and how it will look next to other interior items.

Buy paintings with a good plot and positive themes for the interior of an apartment or house. Do not forget that any picture is not a wardrobe or a carpet, it is the result of the creativity and imagination of the person who created it. Therefore, it carries a powerful energy and emotional charge. Worth paying attention to color scheme present in the canvas. It has been scientifically proven that color has a great influence on our psyche. It can excite or soothe, depress or cheer up, and maybe even heal. Therefore, the purchase of a painting should be taken seriously.
