Multimedia light show “Music of the City of Light”

An annual event in which lighting designers and specialists in the field of audiovisual art transform the architectural appearance of Moscow using video mapping techniques. The facades of symbolic buildings of Russia - the Bolshoi Theater, Moscow State University, VDNKh and others - appear as canvases for large-scale colorful video projections. Entrance to all festival sites is free.

The idea of the festival first arose in 2002, when the Moscow artist, one of the pioneers of large-format projection and mapping Anton Chukaev, wrote for the Moscow Committee on Culture an application to hold the “Moscow Festival of Light” (similar to the legendary Festival of Light in Lyon, France). However, it took 10 years and the emergence of new technologies for large-format video projections for such a festival to appear in Moscow.

The organizers of the festival are the Department of Media and Advertising of the City of Moscow and the Department of National Policy, Interregional Relations and Tourism of the City of Moscow.

For the Circle of Light festival, Russian and world designers and art artists are preparing light and multimedia shows, creating video mapping on the facades of famous buildings, cultural monuments and structures in Moscow, and also integrating their ideas into the architectural space of the city.
